Xiyuan Bai / Graphic Designer
I am Xiyuan Bai, a graphic design student currently based in Melbourne, originally from Inner Mongolia, China. I was born in 2004 and came to Australia in 2020 to continue my studies. Living and studying across different cultural contexts has gradually shaped the way I think about communication, identity, and design.
My practice focuses on clear visual communication, conceptual thinking, and minimalist design. I am interested in how design can build structure and hierarchy while also conveying atmosphere, emotion, and visual impact. Through projects across branding, editorial design, illustration, and digital media, I have developed an approach that balances conceptual exploration with practical communication outcomes.
I value work that feels considered, well-structured, and easy to read and understand. I am especially drawn to minimalist visual systems, strong hierarchy, and restrained image selection. These interests also shape the portfolio website I am currently building, where I want the design to remain simple and keep the focus on the work itself.
My recent projects include Publication, Literary Voice, an editorial response to Silent Spring, and Dao Noodle Tote Bag, a branding application project created for a Melbourne-based restaurant. Together, these works reflect my focus on clarity, professionalism, and ongoing development.
Looking ahead, I hope to continue developing my practice in graphic design, branding, visual communication, and digital creative work, while refining my visual language and professional direction.
